DC.

So I've been in Washington, DC for school for about 4 years now and up until recently, I thought DC was the most disgusting, boring, dry, and dirtiest city ever. It could've been because I was used to a much bigger city like Chicago and nowhere will ever really compare to home (well, I guess that depends on where you're from and where you've been), but anyways, I have an interesting new revelation:

I think....I'm starting..........to............LIKE/LOVE DC.

.....Well, maybe not love. I don't think I love it, yet.

But who knew it would take almost 4 years of being here to actually start to enjoy it! I would even consider living here or in the DMV area after I'm done with school, depending on job offers, etc. I don't necessarily want to stay here; I like traveling and living in different places and I'm ready for the next move and who knows where I'll end up, but I'm not against it anymore.

I'm not sure what caused me to change my mind about DC but it happened so randomly... I was driving home one day (oh yea, I refer to DC as 'home' now, can you believe it?) and it just popped in my head: "I think I might like it here." So simple, just like that.

Washington DC will NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS compare to Chicago (please don't get it twisted, lol), but I guess it'll suffice, for now. :-)

For all my DC readers, I found this cute lil blog article, "How to Live in Washington DC". It's worth a read.

  2. I know how you feel, it took me 4 years to like/love Atlanta...it's still more of a like though lol. And I'm from the DMV so I know it's not that spectacular...but DC does have it's charm. :-D

  3. LOL....Its so ironice I stumbled across your blog. I am actually from D.C. and now live in Chicago (west burbs) now and have for the past.....geezus! 7 years in December.

I feel the same way about D.C. as you think about Chicago. Chicago will NEVER be home but it'll do for now. It's true I believe for anyone when they leave home....home is just what it is home...you know and trust where you are from moreso than anywhere. I am glad you are beginning to like it there after four years, it's a beautiful place, good connections and great things to experience all the time.
